When Roger Troutman sings about being lost and then found, he isn’t just telling a story, he’s telling his story. When he talks about years wandering in the desert of life, void of hope and purpose, he’s not just illustrating a point, it is the point – of all he says, all he means, and all he wants the listener to realize. That God’s grace is the answer to ALL of life’s questions. And without Him, nothing will ever truly make sense. This discovery transformed Roger’s life, and now his desire is to share with as many people as he can that God is the answer for them as well.

As a young child growing up in Houston, Missouri, Roger was raised on gospel music, developing an early love for the genre that has remained a constant throughout a lifetime of varied musical endeavors. As a gifted singer, songwriter, and bass player, whether touring the US with several successful secular country bands or working as a studio musician in Nashville, Roger has never wandered too far from his musical roots. And that love for gospel music is now propelling him into ministry as a vocation.

In 2001 Roger came to know Christ as his personal Savior and Lord through the witness of a friend and co-worker. “God had been preparing me for quite some time to be receptive to the testimony of my friend. He had allowed me to reach a breaking point in my life, a time when I had lost all hope to make it work on my own. I knew I needed something bigger than myself, and that something – that Someone – was the Lord”, Roger explains. His salvation experience marked a major change in the way he viewed his life and his music. He knew from then on that he wanted to perform music for God’s glory and to spread the gospel message in song. Responding to the Lord’s leading, he began singing in churches and writing songs that bore witness to his growing faith. And God has blessed his efforts with ever-increasing invitations to sing and countless requests for recordings of his music.

His goal in each and every concert is to present the gospel message in such a way that believers will be edified and encouraged, and come away with a renewed faith in the One who can give victory over even the most challenging of life’s problems. And for those who don’t yet know Christ, Roger’s songs tell of his own struggles and how, through God’s saving grace, they too can become a child of the King of Kings. As one pastor says, “When Roger sings, the love of God flows from him…he not only sings beautifully, but he ministers to our hearts with his gifts of music.” His newly completed debut project, One More Beautiful Day, set for release in mid-November 2004, includes four songs written by Roger, as well as some old favorites and newer classics in traditional gospel style. Roger describes the project as “southern with a touch of country flavor…toe tapping and hand clapping music, always pointing to the cross and to Christ”.
